The Dailes Theatre will take part in the festival with two events. First of all, we have prepared open-air concert
Our Song for Riga, where almost all the singing actors of the Dailes Theatre are taking part. The performance will take place on July 18 at 7p.m. in the Dzegužkalns park, Riga. Songs of various authors are included in this concert, beginning with compositions by Alfrēds Vinters and concluding with songs by Raimonds Pauls. All the songs are mingled in a joint story line. This concert also concluded our theatre season.
Secondly, we have prepared open-air theatre performance
Short Advice on Love based on the works by Latvian playwright Rūdolfs Blaumanis and supplemented by the music of Raimonds Pauls. The show will be performed on July 20 at 7p.m. in the Dzegužkalns park. Stage director Kārlis Auškāps has used staging of Arnolds Liniņš and created new version of thisplay. We have included this performance in the list of our seasonal shows, thereby retaining it in the repertoire. We find that this play is just as necessary for spectators as another play of Blaumanis - Skroderdienas Silmačos -, which is shown in the National Theatre. Assistant stage director Dž. Dž. Džilindžers is helping Auškāps to stage the play. Decorations made by Aigars Ozoliņš and costumes designed by Ilze Vītoliņa will be completely new. Main roles will be played by Artis Robežnieks or Artūrs Skrastiņš and by Vita Vārpiņa or Ieva Ertmane, a young student. Actually all the troupe of the Dailes Theatre is participating in this performance, where students are involved as well.
